Where is Sea Glass?

In case you are wondering where Sea Glass is right now, at this very moment, we are at Middle Island, Hong Kong staying at the RHKYC (Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club). We have been in the Hong Kong area for just over a month now and I am having a blast.

Chinese Dragon 

When we first came in to the harbor, we had just done a 5 day passage and everyone was pretty tired. It was a nightmare getting in here because so many huge container ships come through the Hong Kong area to get to Guangzhou where all the shipping now goes. When the UK had control of Hong Kong, all the shipping came there, but when the Chinese got Hong Kong back they moved all the shipping and manufacturing to Guangzhou. Now, Hong Kong is just a very touristy place.

The city of Hong Kong is very populated with 7 million inhabitants and who knows how many tourists come through. Almost everyone who lives here uses public transportation, subways (MTR), double decker buses, taxis, and cable cars. The people who have the money, and don't use public transportation have fancy cars. Iv'e seen Ferraris, Bentleys, BMWs, and Mercedes on the streets. Most people live in apartment buildings and you see them as far as the eye can see. Anyway, theres lots of stuff to do in town and the surrounding areas.

We also found out that there is a Hong Kong Disney Land. We went when Dad was putting in the new batteries. We took the MTR to get there and Hong Kong Disney land is the smallest Disney land in the world. I have not been to a Disney land in over 3 years and was amazed that  there was one even here. My favorite ride was called Grizzly Gulch, which was a Wild West theme roller coaster ride. Most of the lines were an hour or more, so even if you showed up in the morning you could only do 5 rides in a day. We went to Hong Kong Disney Land approximately 4 times.

There is also many museums in town and we went to the Science and Space Museums. In case you are wondering everything here is labeled, and all the signs are in English, and the two main Chinese languages, Mandarin and Cantonese. We also found another Amusement part called Ocean Park, which is basically an amusement park+connecting people to marine life. My favorite ride is a ride called the hair raiser and was a fast loop-ti-loop roller coaster ride. The park was so big that you had to take a  cable car from one side to the other.

I now come up to talking about Middle Island and what we are doing here. We are staying on a mooring and the water in this bay is surprisingly clean, so clean that you can even swim in it. I finally got to do wake boarding again, and I had a blast. The dingy is still having problems, but at lest the engine starts and were not rowing. The club here is nice and we did two barbecues.
